The Mayor of Barcelona

Barcelona just gets better thanks to you

A warm welcome to all visitors to Barcelona! Whether it’s a business or leisure trip that you are here for, you are sure to find lots to do in this very Mediterranean city.

This year Barcelona is organising a feast of events to promote the city’s gastronomy and culinary culture with the Year of Food, Cooking, and Gastronomy. You will find everything from cooking tips by top chefs in our colourful markets, cava or chocolate tasting, and even film cycles with food as the main star. And Barcelona is promoting another themed programme in 2005 called the Year of the Book and Reading, with lots of exhibitions, street fairs and other related events.

Barcelona is a place that people feel at home in right away, so make sure you get out and about and enjoy the unique lifestyle that the city offers. We like to live with the highest quality of life possible, so we have redeveloped huge areas of the city to make them better for everyone, both visitors and those that live here. Barcelona has opened up to the sea in recent times, our beaches are some of the best you’ll find in any city and our parks bring nature into what is a very urban place.

Again let me welcome you to Barcelona. Enjoy yourselves to the full and help make Barcelona an even better place to live and visit.
